What should the circular park contain?

The plan is to gather the company's activities that are already in Kristiansund in one place. Today, these are distributed over three locations. The waste that enters the Circular Park must be reloaded and transported out of the facility for final treatment.

The new facility must contain the following:

  • Circuit park (recycling centre): This will be an area with concept stores where facilities are made for increased re-use, repair and redesign.
  • Recycling station: Arrangements are made here for the reception and sorting of waste that is not collected at home by each individual household.
  • Reloading hall: In this, collected source-sorted waste will be reloaded, before the waste is sent on to various recycling facilities. This will take place indoors in a closed hall.
  • Administration and cloakroom building: This will contain a service square, teaching area, meeting and dining room.
  • Stand-up area for waste disposal vehicles with charging facilities and a washing area.

The circular park must not contain:

  • Waste landfill
  • Combustion plant
  • Biogas plant
  • Composting facility
Location of new facility

ReMidt has had a consultant go through the development possibilities in the current area at Hagelin. The conclusion is that Hagelin will not meet the requirements for a future-oriented offer to the municipality's residents. After an assessment of several site alternatives, Pilotveien was chosen. The area in question is already set aside for industrial and commercial activities in the municipality's spatial plan.

ReMidt will facilitate the involvement of neighbors and other stakeholders through the regulatory process that has begun. Kristiansund municipality is the planning and building authority. When it comes to the site selection for a new facility, it is the board of directors ReMidt which is the decision-making authority. The board is elected by the owner municipalities, where Kristiansund is the largest owner. Planned activities are also dependent on permission from, among others, the State Administrator, and must be carried out within the framework set by these. The terms will set limits on the impact on the external and local environment, as well as set requirements for the company's operating routines.
