What is included in the municipal food waste scheme?

Available equipment

Outdoor collection

The following collection equipment is available:

  • Cans of 80 to 660 litres
  • Ground-placed bottom-emptied containers of 1,7 to 4,2 m3
  • Buried bottom emptied containers of 5 m3
  • Other container material in varying sizes

Indoor collection

ReMidt can supply bags, boxes, sacks, bag racks and other collection devices on request.

Emptying frequencies

ReMidt already has regular collection of household waste. We try to the greatest extent possible and also connect the municipal business customers on these routes, as this provides cheaper, more efficient and environmentally friendly transport.

If the unit's needs are greater than what is included in ordinary household frequency, this can in most cases be resolved. We help you find the arrangement that is most beneficial for you and the environment.

Follow-up of the subscription

The municipal unit itself is responsible for plowing and spreading at the cans/containers.

If changes are needed in the waste solution, contact ReMidt.

What happens to the waste?

The waste we collect from municipal business customers is delivered together with the waste from households for recycling. Food waste becomes biogas and fertiliser, paper becomes new paper, etc. It is important to keep the proportion of residual waste low, as it is both expensive and not environmentally friendly to deliver the waste for incineration, even if we recover the heat.

All our municipalities have targets to reduce their climate footprint. It is both a simple and important measure to ensure good waste sorting at all municipal buildings.

Reporting

ReMidt reports back to the municipality annually on what has been delivered from their business customers. Work is underway on a "my page" for business customers, which is expected during 2023.

Costs

Self catering

The owner municipalities have given ReMidt exclusive right to perform this service. This means that we are not allowed to charge more for the service than it costs to deliver it. Municipal industry is a separate self-cost area in ReMidt. If the service makes a profit or loss one year, this goes into a separate self-cost fund. Surplus or deficit must be paid out or covered over the fee for a four-year period. This means that the fee will be lower or higher to equalize this.

Prices

We do not hand out our price list, as it consists of over 400 articles. Not all services are available in all municipalities, and some services have conditions attached to them. Contact us and we will help you set up correct prices for the changes you are planning.

Delivery to the recycling stations

Municipal business customers can deliver waste to our recycling stations with a 10% discount on the list price for other business customers. Contact us for prices and delivery options.

This service is not currently available in Aure, Smøla and Sunndal.

Billing

The municipality is invoiced every quarter for ordinary business subscriptions on the route. Random delivery and call volume are billed every month.
