With effect from 1 July 2021, new waste disposal regulations were introduced in Kristiansund municipality. The regulations were adopted by the city council in Kristiansund 19.11.2020 in case 97/20.

The Renovation Regulations set the framework for which services are to be offered to the inhabitants of the municipality. The new regulations include the following discount options:

• Neighbor sharing discount: If you work with one or more neighbors to collaborate on sharing cans, everyone in the collaboration is given a 15% discount on the fee.
• Composting discount: Anyone who runs home composting, and who has participated in a course under the auspices of ReMidt, can get a 15% discount on the waste collection fee after entering into an agreement on home composting. Those who have such an arrangement will not get their own bin for food waste. Separate rules apply to the composting discount for those who have cooperation / neighbor sharing
