Meet Monica

Monica has a certificate as a car mechanic on light vehicles. In addition, she is trained in heavy vehicles such as trucks and construction machinery. After several years in the mechanic industry, she switched to the waste industry, and has worked there since 2018. Today, she is employed as an operations operator at one of our recycling stations.

My everyday work is versatile and varied. I think that's good! The days are spent meeting our customers at the recycling station, preparing transport of the different types of waste we accept, driving wheel loaders and trucks, keeping order and following up on deliveries from our waste collection trucks. In between, there will also be some office work and follow-up of our computer systems. I think all of this is absolutely great!!

What are the most important reasons why you want to come to work every day?

I work with really great colleagues! And then I meet lots of wonderful people every day who have most of the things in order, and some who don't. They are still just as lovely too😊. I have a versatile everyday life and it suits me perfectly. No two days are the same and that motivates me. The fact that I work with so many different things, and that the days require me to learn new things all the time, is something I enjoy.

What thoughts do you have about the industry you work in?

It is so important! Handling and treatment of waste is of great importance to society in terms of the environment and public health. Another important thing is that we constantly work to reduce the amount of waste, and rather see what we collect as an important resource and raw material for new materials/products. As long as there are people, we will produce waste. It is then important that we take care of what we can, so that the resources are available for those who come after us.
