Bags for food waste

You will be given several rolls of food waste bags together with the new can. Only these bags should be used for food waste.

  • The bags are 10 liters. They fit well in a regular 10 liter bucket.
  • The bags are biodegradable
  • The bags do not have handles, but 4 "ears" that can be easily tied together and used in different containers inside the kitchen
  • It is not necessary to use a double bag for food waste.
  • If you put the bags in a tight container without aeration, you will experience some condensation between the bag and the container. This can be confused with leakage from the bag, but it is the bags that "breathe".
  • Use a container with air holes. These can be bought in the store or you can drill your own holes in a simple 10 liter plastic bucket. Then no condensation will form between the bag and the bucket.
  • If you put some paper towels in the bottom of the container, this will also help against condensation. The paper towels can be placed in the bag afterwards.
  • Do not put hot food directly into the bag, it is recommended to cool the food a little first
  • Remember to tie the bag tightly together before placing it in the can
  • If you run out of bags, new ones will be available at the recycling station. Or you can tie a bag (does not have to be a food bag) on the food can, then the renovator will leave new bags for you

The biogas is converted into fuel and electricity, while biofertilizer is distributed in agriculture. Ecopro is a high-tech biogas plant that treats food waste in an environmentally friendly and future-oriented way. The system removes the risk of infection, reduces odor problems and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The fuel is sold to and distributed via the company Ecogas.
